In my job I do long hours on the road - 40 000 a year. My Camry Altise V6 did fine but needs replacing. Want to look at buying a new mid size SUV but there are so many choices...

My list (must have):
Price 30K - 42K, safety, comfortable ride, low road noise, responsive engine, towing capacity (family boat - 5 meters)
(Not essential) - 7 seats (will be hardly used), fuel economy (company pays for fuel).
Any suggestions (from what models / makes I should consider to what I should stay away from!)

Some options for consideration that are quite good, Mazda CX-5 (not a 7-seater though),
Hyundai Tucson (5-seats), Mitsubishi Outlander (7-seats), Nissan X-trail (7-seats), VW Tiguan, or even a Kia Sportage.
There are 2wd and 4wd options which does affect the price, but here are a few good choices to get you started. The main thing to look for would be the weight of your boat and the towing capacity of these vehicles.
