Hi there, I bought new polo at Giltrap prestige in February of 2014. It runs about 60k kms. This morning it was sent to the dealer for the forth annual service. They called me later said the water pump has leaked and it needs about $1380 to replace a new one. And the front Lower arm bushes also need a replace for $585. I checked some website, vw has a Powertrain warranty system and it covers the main parts for 5 years or 60k miles in America, but in New Zealand, I can't find those terms in VW websites. Do you this it's fair for New Zealand VW owners? Thanks, Richard.

The parts that have failed may not have all been covered in a powertrain warranty anyway, If you are concerned that your vehicle has not met the consumer guarantees act in any way you can always express this the service manager I would also discuss your questions of the power train warranty with them too.

The CGA guarantees mean the vehicle should be:

•of acceptable quality – reasonable in look and finish, durable and safe

•fit for purpose – either generally or to meet a specific purpose you told the dealer before you bought the vehicle

•as described – match the description in advertising or anything the dealer said at the time.

Hi Ian,

Thanks for your expert viewpoint. I contacted VW and they are asking for goodwill process and I will keep you noticed for any further progress on this.

Thanks,
Richard.

They do the replacement of water pump for free finally. I think it's the best option I could choose.

Thanks for your help.
