Hi. Im looking at 2 cars which is a Nissan tiida and Toyota auris costing under $7500. Would want to know how reliable the cvt transmissions for both vehicles and its general reliability too. Also would like to know if there are common problems for a vw golf 2004 2.0 gt. Thanks

Nissan transmissions have been more complained about than Toyota of the same year period. There are lots of both these cars as Japanese imports, with servicing or lack of possibly a contributing factor in how long these vehicle last.
This would be the same of the VW Golf GT, 14 year old European car has used up a good portion of its useful life and you may be chasing problems just to keep up the maintenance. These cars do go well, handle great, and have great safety features for it age, but it can come at a cost.
