Without knowing more detail on the vehicle and the specific problems, it’s very hard to even provide a rough estimate on the total costs of repairs. Anywhere between $1200 and $1800 would not surprise me but it could go higher.

I suspect your engine has 3 coil packs fitted which have a current retail cost of around $360 each.

There may also be a resistor fitted which should be replaced whenever a coil is renewed. This adds an approximate additional cost of $60 per coil.

My research would strongly suggest the right diagnosis is made as these vehicles can suffer from engine management issues (computer) and coils can be replaced for the wrong reasons.

Different repairers may carry out these types of repairs in different ways and in some cases dependent on owners budgets.

If there are vacuum leaks caused by brittle hoses and connections for example, then some repairers may recommend all such parts should be replaced. If the budget doesn’t stretch that far just repairing the obvious is always an alternative albeit with less long term guarantees.

Same scenario for the coil packs; do you do one, or replace them all as a matter of course?

You are better to ask your preferred workshop for an estimate on the required repairs once they have identified the problems and before the job has been started. You can then discuss possible options if costs needed to be reduced.

Mechanical repairs on these sorts of vehicles are often best left to those who specialise and work specifically on them. Many of these business owners are hands-on mechanics who are ex factory trained and know all the short cuts and common issues.
