I have just purchased an ex Kea Ford Transit 2002 - it has done 119,000kms.
Before I took delivery the glow plugs were replaced as well as the timing chain and other "tensioner" belts.
Since taking delivery I notice that it is missing intermittently ie going up hill and changing from 2nd to third gear it will lose power (like someone is keeping the fuel back).
It will then clear and it will go okay. I took it back to the dealer who took it for an 80km drive and it would not do it.
I drove it again from Tauranga to Miranda and it did it twice and then cleared and there was no further problem. it went back to Ford who have driven it and say they are unable to find the fault.

Would it be possible to put a diagnostic computer/machine on it and this might show up where the problem is?
Failing that do you have any suggestions as to how the problem can be found?

Thanks

I would have thought the Ford service centre that checked the vehicles performance would have checked for possible faults using their specific Ford diagnostic tools.

It's always hard to diagnose a problem if the engine performs perfectly during a road test but I wonder if anyone has thought about replacing the fuel filter.

It may be one of those jobs where an educated guess is something you have to accept and be prepared to pay for in an attempt to overcome this problem.

Love to know the final outcome.
