Does the Mercedes Benz brake warning light on the s class, showing that the brake pads are at the end of their useful life, activate before the pads would fail a WOF?

Hi there,
I would think that if connected that the light would come on when the contact touched the disc as it is designed as an early warning system, and this would be a few mm before the pad was declared a wof fail- as long as the wear is even and all pads (inner and outer) have sensors, which I don't think they do.
