Hi there,i have a ford focus 2010 hatchback. It has a small crank seal leak which i think causes the clutch to slip sometimes? Unless clutch has it own problem? Can you please tell me how much it would cost to fix this/these problems?? Cheers Lui

Hi there,
There is usually a small hole in the transmission bell housing that will let oil out of there is a leak from the crank (rear main) oil seal. It is unlikely that this will be the sole cause of a slipping clutch, it could mainly be age or adjustment related. The seal itself could cost $30 for example but the transmission requires removal to replace- so could be replaced if you were to check/replace the clutch. For more pricing on the repairs, I recommend you call a repairer who can price the parts specific to your vehicle and their labour rate. http://locations.aa.co.nz/aa-auto-centre-
