I purchased a 2006 Suzuki swift from a car dealership in November 2019, from the start there was an on going issue with the brakes and I kept taking it back to the dealership who has an on-site mechanic.

In February 2020 they replaced the brake pads and rotors and there wasn’t any more problems until recently. There’s been a squeak coming from the brakes when applying light pressure, this doesn’t always happen and usually starts after half hour or so of driving.

Should this be something to worry about? What could be the problem? I only drive about twice a week short distances.

Hi there,
It can be common on vehicles with low use, that the metal discs and pads can take a little bit to clean the surfaces as this generally happens when they get hot after driving- like going down a long hill, or stopping from a motorway speed.
Sometimes it can be the case that the light friction between the pads and the disc create a noise, which is more annoying when they are cold, and don't pose any danger. However it's always best to get a second opinion to make sure there is nothing strange going on. You can find an AA workshop here: http://locations.aa.co.nz/aa-auto-centre-
