I am looking at buying a 2003/2004 Toyota Hilux, Diesel with only 71kw - is this strong enough for safely towing a horse float with 1 horse? Thank you

The 2000-2004 Hilux models were only rated to tow a braked trailer of 1,800kg- this is also where mainly the top models were turbo diesel.
71kW is a little under powered considering what they are these days, but diesel engines are good at having the torque/ pulling power to get the vehicle moving. So it should be strong enough with the tow specs but may be a little slow. I would look at getting a turbo diesel that should perform better.
