I replaced the timing belt and idlers on my 1996 Isuzu Wizard at 180,00Km's. When it clicked over 200,000km's the dash 'timing belt' light came on.

How do I turn it off, or re-set it?

This is not a straightforward job to be honest.

The dash cluster needs to be removed to gain access to the rear of the speedo head.

Once removed you will find two holes which may be covered by tape. In one of the holes you will find a screw/plug that needs to be removed and placed into the blank hole. Removing the screw/plug will cancel the warning light and automatically reset it.

It is a mechanical operation and no harm is done if you simply decide to ignore the warning light. At current garage hourly rates, I suspect it won't be a cheap job.

The trick would be to find a garage who is aware of this process so you are not paying anymore than you need to.
