We have two Honda Civic cars that are serviced and maintained by Honda. The owner handbook for these cars states that engine oil must be changed every 10,000 kms or 1 year, whichever is earlier. Various other things such as checking brakes, lubrication and so on are at 20,000 kms or 1 year, whichever is earlier. (Some checks are after even greater kms/longer time periods).

My car might do 10,000 kms in 8 months, and 15,000 kms in a year. According to the handbook, I should go in for engine oil change (only) after 8 months, and for various other things after 12 months! This is ridiculous, to say the least. I go there every 12 months and request that both engine oil change and other servicing be done at the same time.

As the manufacturer states a "time or mileage" interval, I'd take it in every 10,000km regardless of time, given your annual mileage of around 15,000km. I agree that it seems unnecessary to take your car in after possibly only a couple of months, so I'm sure the dealer can work with you in doing the other checks at the same time, with perhaps some being done every second service. Discuss this with the Service Manager, I'm sure he can find a balance that will work for you.
