hey,

accidentally took out the headlight on my car (just got it and not used to extra length in it), just a few questions as to what to do from here,
firstly is replacing the broken lens with thick clear sellotape (to protect the bulb and remove any sharp edges) enough for the car to be roadworthy enough to get a replacement cover,

secondly does the cover actually need replacing before its next WOF, this kinda goes allong the lines of asking if its road worthy anyway,

lastly where would be the best place to go to replace this cheaply (i would prefer to put it in myself to save a bit)

the car is a toyota corolla station wagon

Trying to repair the headlight along the lines you describe is not going to make the car legal or safe.

Save yourself the hassle and go and get a second-hand headlight unit complete from a wrecker is my best advice.
