What is the likely cause of the whine I hear from the engine of my Honda Accord 2.3ltr LXI when accelerating only, itincreases as the speed increases, it does not happen when maintaining a static speed or decellerating. I brought it in Dec 2011 (303000Km) and has a new warrant and registration, the car dealer said his mechanic though!! it could be bearing hardening wearing off, I am not a mechanic but sounds unlikely, can you make a suggestion of the area I need to have checked out to prevent this and is it a hazard to continure to drive the vehicle.? Changes gear great and no other issues with it.

Without hearing it, it's hard to guess exactly what it might be. However, from your description and the dealer mentioning bearing hardenning, it could be a transmission problem which could cause major problems in the transmission if you continue to drive the vehicle. Perhaps a second opinion from an impartial repairer (ie, not the dealer you bought the car from) may be helpful. I'm assuming the dealer is refusing to repair the problem?
Assuming you bought the car from a licensed dealer (and not by auction) you may have some claim against the dealer to pay for the repair, which could be expensive..
