I have 2005 Ford Territory Ghia.
I purchased it from John Andrew Ford when it was 2 years old in 2007
I have been advised it is unlikely to pass the next WOF due to rust in the chassis.
Where can I go to get an assessment or advice.
This came as a suprise. I was not expecting to replace this car so soon.
Thanks
I have not used it for Boat launching- it has never been on a beach.

In the first instance you should consult with a Ford dealer, possibly the one you bought the vehicle from. Enquire, from Ford, whether the vehicle currently falls into a anti perforation warranty. You could read your warranty booklet and see if there are any details regarding this. If it's currently within the anti perforation period then Ford will need to assess the rust and determine if it will be covered under their warranty or not.

If the rust is not covered by Ford then you will need to have the vehicle assessed by a panel beater to determine the extent of the rust and what work will be required for a successful repair.

Hi
I was very interested to read your post.
I too have a 2005 Ford Territory Ghia.
Also purchased from John Andrew Ford when it was about 1 year old.
It has just had a WOF failed due to rust in the chassis.
It is outside rust warranty period which is 5 years, which guessing yours is too.
Both our local garage and our panelbeater are astounded that it should be rusting so early.
The car has never been near a beach either.
I am wondering if you went to John Andrew Ford and what the outcome was? We have rung them and they seem unlikely to want to help - but perhaps this is a problem with all these models?

Hi. wondering what happened with your case. We have the same issue with a 2004 Territory Ghia. Have been battling John Andrew & Ford NZ for past 5mths but with no luck. They have admittied this was an issue with early models. They used better steel in later models. I am considering a claim at Motor Vehicle Disputes Tribunal as I believe even though its outside warranty this is a known issue which has laid dormant and only coming out after warranty expired. Anyone got advice on that? Thks.

Hi there

We got nowhere with Ford and had to pay to get rust dealt with. Unfortunately, there are a lot of other problems with this model that are known to mechanics, we have been advised to get rid of it but that presents with an ethical dilemma.
Would consider joining you at Motor Vehicle Disputes Tribunal - have you had any advice since your post?

Still no luck so we have just filed a case at MVDT. Will see how that goes. Thks.
