I have a Honda Odyssey 1995. What do I need in terms of parts to service this vehicle myself.

The cam belt was done at 100k.

Thanks.

If you wish to carry out a general oil change the only required parts are a new oil filter, sump plug washer and an oil pack. You may also need to invest in some simple tools like spanners, drain tray etc.

And don't forget the safety aspects of doing these jobs at home. If you raise the vehicle to gain access to the sump plug then do not rely on a hydraulic or manual jack to hold the vehicle while you are underneath draining the oil or replacing the filter. Place some axle stands or similar under the vehicle as a precaution.

Dependant on your mileage, service requirements differ and during a service mechanics give the vehicle a full check over, inspecting for worn or faulty parts that could cause an issue in the future.

At the very least I would advise purchasing a repair manual for the model to familiarise yourself with correct maintenance procedures, before attempting to service the vehicle yourself. Or leave it to the professionals, it may end up saving you heartache in the long run.

One final word; make sure you dispose of the old engine oil in the most environmentally friendly way.

In regards to oil disposal, is there a place where we can take it to recycle or dispose of?
