Re: A 1996 Suzuki Cultus ABS Brake Light problem.

I have had this vehicle for the last 5 years and a few months after purchase the ABS brake light would come on - intermittently.

Some times it would stay on for weeks and then stay off for weeks or even months.

On occasions if I stop and the light had been on for that journey, when I restarted the car the light would stay off.

Who do I need to take the vehicle to. Auto electrician, computer expert, general mechanic.

We have been unable to find any known problems with the ABS system on this model Suzuki.

First up avoid the garages or franchises who specialise in the quick service type operations, it's a job for the general repairer who has the equipment to diagnose the problem.

Try an AA Licensed repairer in your area if you do not have a regular servicing garage.

Quite often a fault like this will stay logged into the ABS computer which will help the repairer identify the source of the problem. Having the correct equipment will enable the fault to be retrieved and identified.

You can have some control over these types of repairs by asking the garage to contact you with an estimate of the repairs once the fault has been identified. You need to allow an hour or so for the initial diagnosis to be made.

Insist on regular updates to avoid surprises.

It may be reasonably straight forward like a wheel sensor problem or could be more involved.
