I've bought a jap import Merc. Benz A160 2001. I need an owners manual in English or German, where could I find one?

Also, the car has an AA compliance certificate but has a chip in the windscreen (only about 8mm long). I have a MTA Dealer Warranty. Will the winscreen be covered for repair, and what kind of service could I expect from the dealer?

Jurgen.

Try your local Mercedes agent. A quick call to Giltrap Mercedes on Auckland's North Shore confirmed they have a manual in stock.

Alternatively, there is a company called JPNZ International Ltd who specialise in translating Japanese owner's manuals. Land Transport New Zealand require translations to be carried out by an approved service provider. JPNZ International Ltd are one such provider.

JPNZ's Phone number is: 0800 626 8257.

Windscreen chips are not normally covered by mechanical warranty. Windscreen condition is a WOF inspection item and only if the drivers vision is impaired would it be a possible case for rejection.

There are glass companies which can repair stone chips and it is best to get onto this quickly as sometimes the chip can start to 'creep' across the screen.

The selling dealer may do something for you as a gesture of goodwill, worth a try but don't hold your breath.

Keep my contact details, I would love to hear of your ownership experience
