I had been concerned by a noise, almost a clicking sound, which was most pronounced at very slow speeds but may have been drowned out by engine noise as the speed increased. I took it in to the garage which supplied the car and serviced it from new and they agreed the noise was present and put the car on the hoist but could not locate it and made an appointment to investigate further (costly ?). Would you have any suggestions,....it's not a stone in the pad.

Hi There,
I have not heard of a particular issue that would pinpoint this noise. If it's a rotating noise then there are a few areas to look into. Does it make the sound while the vehicle is in the air or just driving on the ground?. Possibilities could be driveline, cv units, transmission, tyres, or even engine drive belt or associated ancillaries. Steering, alternator, and air-conditioning. If it's a minor sound and intermittent, it may take a while to locate.

Thanks for your reply. I should have mentioned that the mechanic said that the noise disappeared when it was on the hoist i.e,. not under load.
Will let you know what happens. Regards, Bill.

The noise was found to be caused by the lubricant on a wheel rim to have dried out which distorted the tyre fitting. The garage located the noise was on the l/h so switched the wheel over and it transferred to the r/h....removed the tyre and lubricated and noise gone !
