I was thinking of buying an imported 2002 Nissan Primera but am concerned at the potential for failure of the CVT transmission. If I was to have the oil drained and box flushed out plus change any filters there may be, as soon as I purchased, do you think this may could alleviate the problem?
To be honest I would advise you walk away from this vehicle. An imported Nissan Primera with a CVT is a vehicle I’m sure even Nissan NZ would advise you against buying.
The newer Nissans fitted with this type of transmission enjoy a good reliability record to date, and I would have no problem in recommending one. However, the early used Primera’s are a different story.
Don’t waste your money on oil changes etc, it won’t help.
