I recently purchased a manual Ford Fiesta Zetec and was advised by the salesman that I should use 95 octane fuel......was this correct advice and, if it was, would the regular use of 91 adversly affect performance and Ford's guarantee ?

If the vehicle is still under a warranty programme you should stick to the octane rating Ford recommends.

Suggest you double check however and email Ford NZ direct.

Why pay more for your fuel than you need to.

Hello Jack,
I e-mailed the Ford site suggested in your reply and got a quick responce....As indicated in the Fiesta Service Guide, the engine is optimised to run on 95 RON and maximum performance is achieved using 95 RON, but it is safe to operate on 91 RON, if that is your preference.
Thanks.
