I am hearing many conflicting stories about these vehicles - especially the 2.7 diesel. Are there "known issues" with them? This is a 2003 with just over 200K Km. Thanks

Our information is that the Mercedes Benz 2.7 diesel engine and transmission fitted to the Grand Cherokee was a sound and reliable power train. However, any vehicle that has travelled in excess of 200,000km would be considered fairly high risk. Being a common rail diesel, it is important that this engine is not subject to contaminated fuel, so fuelling from a high volume station is recommended - (no farm tank fuel etc).
To summarise, this wasn't a bad model but I'm not sure I'd be comfortable buying one at this mileage.
