Six months ago my Mum had the Vinyl roof on her Mazda MX5 replaced as the original one had shrunk over the past 20 odd years. The original roof had no holes in it. Just the other day my Mum noticed a hole almost big enough to poke your finger through that is located by one of the roof supports. It looks as though when the roof has been opened and closed it has slowly (or not so slowly) worn its way through; keeping in mind that the original roof didn’t have this problem to begin with.
She has taken the car back to the shop that replaced the roof for her and they have offered to patch the hole. Neither of us believe that it should be patched but rather replaced given how new it is and how much it cost to have the work completed. It would also reduce the valuation of the vehicle should she sell it.
I was hoping you would be able to advise as to what rights we have and if the shop is liable to replace the roof or just patch it?
