I'm restoring 1939 vintage pickup for the workshop, it was a barn find & has been apart for about 25 years, I have no paper work or number plate that was with the vehicle, an old Wof sticker shows it had a Wof last in 1986 but can't read the old rego number, I can not find any readable chassis numbers. What is involved in getting it vinned & registered for the road ? It will be a standard vehical except maybe seat belts for which I know I require a LV inspection for.

First up it is very important you make every effort to retain any scraps of evidence you may have that the vehicle was once registered in NZ. For example, if you could photograph the WoF label and try not to remove it from the windscreen just yet.

While the process is not overly difficult it is certainly not straightforward either. With this in mind, we would much rather prefer the opportunity to discuss the certification and registration process with you by phone rather than email if possible.
