Our MGB GT V8 car has just failed its WOF based on having had a suspension modification. According to receipts from previous owners an Evolution Handling Kit and V8 Leaf Springs were purchased in early Dec 1992 and fitted on 22 Dec. There is no evidence of the work having been certificated at the time, and the garage which did the work is no longer in business through retirement of the owner.
Is there a 'grandfather' clause in the Regulations which would relieve us of the need to have this work certified after all these years?

Hi there,
Some suspension work doesn't require certification as long as it falls within the NZTA WoF criteria from this link: https://vehicleinspection.nzta.govt.nz/virms/in-service-wof-and-cof/general/steering-and-suspension/steering-and-suspension-systems
There is no mention of modification dates with regards to suspension.
