Is it true that when volunteer fireman and ambulance personal are responding to an emergency call from their respective stations they can drive with their hazard and high beam headlights on?

We have been in contact with the New Zealand Fire Service to research your question.

There is no current legislation that allows volunteer personnel, responding to an emergency call out to be allowed to drive with hazard lights and high beam lamps on.

They must also travel within the designated speed limit.
