As a learner driver you are not allowed to drive without a fully licensed driver supervising you. In the event of an accident, your insurer will not cover you.
Oh okay I heard that under section 11 of the insurance law if I can prove my license status wasn't a contributing factor to the accident then I thought that couldn't affect my claim being accepted?
Advice from our Insurance team is that a claim under these circumstances would not be automatically accepted.
However, it is possible that you could request a review of the claim, which may then be investigated further. In certain circumstances after the review a claim may possibly be accepted.
It would be much wiser for you to obtain a Restricted License which allows you to legally be on the road, thereby avoiding any line ball marginal calls in the event of an accident, whether caused by you or a third party.
