My car was recorded as illegally parked in Queen St on Sat 12 May when it was at the panelbeaters. I have sent a copy of my receipt from when I picked up on Mon 14 and a note from the panelbeater to say it was locked away on the Sat. This has not been accepted by Auckland Transport as the officer 'clearly noted' the registration no of my car and the make. As it is a Signature car it was probably a rental or fleet car so there will be other Corollas with similar nos. If it was my car, this becomes a police matter. Does 'clearly noted' mean written down? No photo is mentioned. Where do I go from here?

Go back to the council, but don't ring them! Write to them with an explanation accompanied by a letter from your panelbeater. I'm positive your panelbeater will be happy to write you a nice letter, after all, the car was in his care.

I doubt very much that the council would take further action by means of a disputes tribunal. Their case seems very weak.

A parking warden in central Auckland told me today that they are instructed to take photgraphs of the car when they issue an infringement notice.
It would be interesting to see the picture if it is your car or not.
