I recently took my 91 Mitsubishi Galant for a Warrant of Fitness and was told that it had too many lights fitted on the front.

It has main and high beam plus fog and driving lights.

Up until now it has passed its WoF inspections because the fog lights have been disconnected, but the man at the garage says that the lights must be completely removed from the vehicle now.

The problem is that I often drive in the early hours of the morning and I really need those low mounted lights to see.

The fog / driving lights are all in the same unit. Do I really have to butcher my beloved car that has the factory original front air dam and then try and find some fog lights that will fit into the same hole ?

What is this new law supposed to do. It is only costing me money and if anything making my driving less safe.

Clearly the car is not legal the way the lights are currently configured.

If lights are fitted to the car they must be in working order and you can't disconnect lights in order to gain a WoF and then reconnect them.

It sounds to me like the lights are suppose to be driving lights only. You may have up to four main headlights fitted to the car.

A fog / driving light combo does not work.

The law is there to stop people having inappropriate lighting which can cause confusion to other road users.

Sorry Andrew I have to agree with the WoF inspector on this one.
