I recently got backed into by another car and as a result have a bent number plate.

There was no point in going through insurance because of the small cost but was wondering where I would go to get a replacement plate.

Unfortunately you cannot replace the one plate or procure the exact same plate number.

You will need to go into either an AA centre or testing station and fill out a MR6 form and hand over the existing plates. You will then be provided with a new set of plates and registration label.

My understanding is the cost is less than $20 in total.

You will also receive by mail updated ownership papers within a couple of weeks from the New Zealand Transport Agency.

If it is possible it may be better to try and straighten the existing plate.
