Hi,

I bought a car(honda edix 2004) last Nov 2013 from a dealer for $9150 including 36 months mechanical breakdown insurance (PROTECTA optimum).

Now i just noticed that when I make a full turn on my steering wheel i hear some unusual sound.

My question is Do the dealer still have the responsiblity for covering the cost of repair? What are my option cause I am a little bit confuse with the mechanical breakdown warranty.

thanks

In the first instance you should talk to the dealer. Although the vehicle has a 36 month mechanical breakdown insurance, there will be an excess to pay for any repairs. As you have only had the car for 3 months, there is still a good chance this is something that perhaps would be deemed to be the dealer's responsibility under the Consumer Guarantees Act. The dealer is likely to want you to claim under the policy, but at the very least, I'd be asking the dealer to pay the excess.

I am assuming its a a CV joint, it will click loudly when you make a turn, they usually fail when the rubber casing splits and water gets into the joint, I agree with ABayliss, 3 months seem a very short time for this sort of problem to occur, Talk to the dealer, and I hope you have a successful outcome.
