I am looking to import a 1958 Jaguar XK150 from Australia which is in a partially restored state.

The car is a rolling chassis and body, but not driveable at present. Could you tell me what importation processes need to be complied with to bring this vehicle into NZ.

There are no problems involved when importing a partially restored vehicle.

At the border the vehicle detail and chassis number will be entered into the Landtransport data base.

This information forms the basis of the vehicle's history in NZ.

We do strongly recommend you keep all the information including pictures regarding the restoration to date.

If the restoration includes any work that is structural, you will need it to be signed off by an approved New Zealand Transport Agency (NZTA) repair certifier.

Before you start any structural work it is important you make contact with your closest repair certifier (ring 0800 699 000) so the repair process can be agreed on and checked on a regular basis.

Once the restoration is completed, the vehicle will then need to be complied (Warrant of Fitness and officially registered etc) by a Transport Services Delivery Agent (TSDA). The NZAA is one such agent.
