I'm currently on a Learners motorcycle license and therefore restricted to a top speed of 70kph.

Am I able to ride my motorcycle on the motorway with this speed restriction in place.

It is OK for a Learner motorcycle rider to travel at no more than 70km/h on a motorway.

The current road rules restrict Learner motorcyclists to a maximum 70km/h on any road with a higher speed limit, this includes 100km/h motorways and state highways.

However, it is now recognised that it is better for all vehicles in high speed zones to travel at similar speeds, so the Government is proposing to repeal the 70km/h restriction, although any law change is not expected to occur until late this year or early 2012.
