The new BMW 5 Series entered the marked with a comprehensive engine range offering consumers a choice of both petrol and diesel options from BMW’s latest generation of engine technology. The New Zealand range will initially comprise of 520d, 530d and the range-topping 540i.
The 5 Series sedan is up to 100kg lighter than its predecessor thanks to BMW's EfficientLightWeight design concepts, which comprises of increased usage of aluminium and high strength steels. Combined with a newly designed chassis and a lightweight body, BMW promise a "wonderfully dynamic driving experience with the long distance comfort for which the BMW 5 Series is renowned".
The 5 Series also offers a host of assistance systems. All models available in NZ feature the Driving Assistant Plus package as standard, which leverages radar and camera sensor technology to deliver systems such as Active Cruise Control, Steering and Lane Control Assistant (which includes Traffic Jam Assist), Lane Departure and Lane Change warning systems, and Evasion Aid and Side Collision Warnings.
The sedan also offers the latest iDrive system and Navigation system Professional as standard with a larger, 10.25-inch touchscreen user interface. Apple CarPlay preparation completes a comprehensive level of standard connectivity and infotainment.
