Some pre-existing conditions may be covered after 18 months

Unlike most pet insurers in New Zealand, we can cover some pre-existing conditions depending on whether they are considered a temporary or chronic condition. If your pet has a temporary condition that occurred or existed before you took out the policy (or arises during the relevant waiting period) but has been symptom-free for 18 months, you can apply for your pet to be covered for that condition under the policy.

**To receive a Multi Pet discount you must hold two or more policies at the same time.  The discount is applied to the second and any subsequent policy.  The order of the policies is established by the order in which pet details are entered when taking out multiple policies at the same time, or by application date if taken out at different times. Multiple Pet Policies entered into prior to the 5th of April 2025, receive a 5% discount on all pet policies while 2 or more policies remain current.  Discounts will continue to be offered to renewing polices provided there are no breaks or lapses in cover.  Discounts will cease on renewing policies when there is only 1 active policy.
