AA Home has introduced a home maintenance inspection service to help homeowners identify potential issues early and avoid unexpected, costly repairs.
Delivered in partnership with Betta Group, the service is designed with the intention to point out potential issues before they cascade into a full-blown emergency. The check includes an inspection of the home’s roofing and gutters, foundations, subfloor, smoke alarms, sewer and hot water systems, fencing, electrical systems and more.
AA Home National Manager Nalini Dutt says unless you’re a professional, you might not realise a problem with your home is developing.
“Home issues like foundation cracks or roofing damage can sometimes go unnoticed until they become a major problem.
“Our new service is designed to identify and address issues before they escalate.”
The inspection report uses a traffic light rating system, highlighting any areas of concern and indicating when action is required in a simple and digestible format.
Nalini says just like with cars, fixing the small problem now could save you in the long run.
“It’s almost like getting a Warrant of Fitness for your home, ensuring anything on the cusp of becoming a costly or dangerous issue is identified so you can take steps to deal with it accordingly.
“Plus, it provides a much nicer living environment when your home is well-maintained.”
Property industry experts recommend homeowners allocate at least 1% of the home’s purchase price for maintenance each year.
This includes activities aimed at preventing urgent repairs.
