I have a 2000 model Nissan Navara ute which has had a turbo since new. I am unsure if it was factory fitted, or whether it was added in NZ before being supplied to the dealer. It has just been failed its WoF because apparently the turbo isn't certified. Is this a new requirement? It has passed all its WoF's up to now. The VIN is JN1CJUD22A0010423. Any help you can give would be appreciated thank you.

Hi there,
The addition of a turbo or any such upgrades have always required LVV certification to pass a wof. It may have been that the various inspectors were not aware that the model you have did not come out with a turbo. Information can be found here: https://vehicleinspection.nzta.govt.nz/virms/in-service-wof-and-cof/general/miscellaneous-items/engine-and-transmission

Thank you. It is amazing that it has been missed all this time. I got the ute with 1000 km on it (Had been a dealer demo, and was fitted with the turbo then) so it must have had in excess of 30 WoF inspections up to now.

Hi there,
Could you please email us the vehicle rego to aatech@aa.co.nz we might be able to see if Nissan NZ installed it.
