Hi. I have owned a Mazda CX5 diesel since new and are considering replacing it with another. I have read on this forum and others about issues with these engines. Whilst I have had a good run do you consider them to be any less reliable than any other modern diesel? Thankyou.

Hi there,
I believe the problems with them can stem from the DPF filter not being able to regenerate, which is due to driving types that are typically short commutes. Most commonly diesels are used a lot and travel distances and so the DPF regeneration doesn't become an issue. I'm not aware of them being any less reliable than other diesel models.
