I am looking at a 1996 Rover 216 which has travelled 57,000km's.

Will this need a new cam belt and any idea how much to replace?

Be very careful before you commit to purchasing this vehicle regardless of the cam belt replacement question.

These vehicles have the potential to cost you plenty in terms of maintenance costs and if it is fitted with an CVT automatic transmission (constant variable Transmission) I would be even more concerned.

Yes, they have a cam belt and if there is no evidence of a recent replacement it will need to be done. Don't hold me to the cost but I imagine it could be around the $600 mark plus depending on what other work was recommended such as water pump and belt tensioner.
