I'm looking for a straightforward checklist of what forms need to be completed when I Sell & Buy a car. I've searched this site and the NZTA one and the information is laid out in such a way that it assumes you know what steps to take. Have you got such a list with links to forms?

Also, is there a fee for transferring a personalised plate from one vehicle to another? The plates.co.nz site says yes, but I can find no such form on NZTA or AA sites that give direction on this.

A checklist page would be awesome! and links to forms in the meantime would be helpful too!

The seller of the vehicle completes the MR13A form and the purchaser will need to complete form MR13B and process them at an AA centre. These forms are available from NZTA agents like AA Centres or AA Vehicle Testing stations and the buyer will need to pay a small fee (normally $9.00). This can be done online as well in easy steps on the NZTA website. To replace the plates on the vehicle the personailised plates are being removed from costs around $19.00 and it will cost approx $9.00 for the vehicle it is being fitted to (admin fees). Also see more info on buying vehicles on the AA website buying guide.
