Hi team. My Mitsubishi Delica 4x4 Diesel 1995 (250 000km) broke down because of a craked head gasket. I have been given the following quote and I was wondering if you think it is a reasonable price for the work. I need some advise to know how I could get my van back on the road.
Is there any other options for me to get my van fixed ?
If I fix the engine, is it going to last long like if it was a new engine ?
I spent about $5000 to buy that van so I feel it would be a waste not to fix it.

Hi there,
The price sounds reasonable for the amount of work and the inclusion of a new cylinder head. However, the cylinder head is only one part that makes up the complete engine. So fitting a new one on an old engine has its risks as no one can guarantee how long the rest will hold up. But for this type of problem, aside from a complete engine overhaul, a cylinder head replacement is the next best repair. As it is, the vehicle could only be worth $500-1,000? Max, so it's a decision on if you want to keep the vehicle after or invest in something else.
