Hi, My 2007 Mazda Premacy has been showing 'AT' warning light for the last couple of weeks and the scans have showed error codes P0661, P0744 and P0841. I have been told that it will take 4 hours labour to pull apart the transmission and find out which part is faulty, which means over $400 just to find out the problem. Does it really take that long to pull the transmission apart or am I being ripped here? They can give the additional part costs only after finding out if its the 'Intake Manifold Tuning Valve' or the 'Torque Converter Clutch Pressure Control Solenoid' that is faulty. Can you please throw some light on this? I just want to make sure they are giving me honest costs and not ripping me off. Many thanks.

Hi there,
Transmissions are a complex unit that rely on fluid pressure and operate with fine tolerances. So they do take time to work on and fault find. The presence of a code doesn't automatically mean that the part is faulty and requires a physical diagnosis and testing to be accurate in determining the repair costs. You will be best to obtain any second opinions from a transmission specialist.
