What are the service intervals for a new Diesel car in comparison to a petrol?

In the main, the new Diesels carry the same service intervals as a petrol which are 12 months / 15,000kms whichever comes first.

If used in extreme conditions you may find the diesel service intervals drop back to 6 months / 7500kms whichever comes first.

Depending on their age older Diesels can have service intervals as low as 3 months / 5,000kms.

There is a message here - avoid an old diesel. Remember also while the service intervals may be the same the costs may not. A diesel may take more oil and the cost per litre may be higher. Same for the filter.
