I'm looking at buying a 2004 Honda Euro 2.4l but there are 2 I've seen one manual and the other automatic. Is there any significant difference in fuel consumption and running costs between the gearbox choices? I'm happy driving either.

A very good choice of vehicle.

There will in theory, be a difference in favour of the manual but it will be miminal (maybe half a litre per 100km's tops) on a good day.

If you plan on keeping the car long-long term there are benefits with the maunal in terms of potential repair costs.

Automatics are very expensive to repair (not a criticsm of the Euro) while the manuals are bullet proof.
