Hi there,

Is it normal to have car problems 2 months after a car service? My car is all of a sudden, not starting straight away when turning the ignition. The car strains to start and cloud of white smoke expell from the exhaust pipe
Bit concern, I was charge for new battery, which is fine, but the car twice atrains to start.
There is a couple clicks/ticks before it start but then it starts to fade and have to restart the car.
Please advise if this is normal and a estimate of how much it will cost for repairs. Apologies youre looking in blind but i only encounter the problem yesterday and again today.
Also, even with the new battery (the service persony reported, battery was faulty and needed replacing which i approved) it sometimes takes a few seconds for the car to start.

Hi there,
I recommend you take the car to a workshop for diagnosis, there could be a wide range of potential issues, from a starter motor worn, through to a possible engine internal malfunction.

Thank you for the reply. Im also wondering during the service, would potential problems be detected???

Thanks

Hi there,
The mechanics can only advise on things they see and experience while servicing your vehicle. As you said there were no issues experienced till a few months after the service, it would be unlikely that a workshop could pick it up at the time of the service.

Thanksbfor that. Does AA have a workshop that I can take car to? Or can i go back to where i got my car serviced. At Manukau....

If you think the workshop you use has caused an issue then you must go back to them first so they can check the car. If unrelated, then you can go to the AA Auto centre also in Manukau if you want. http://locations.aa.co.nz/aa-auto-service-repair
