When parallel parking on a residential street by a driveway, what takes precedence when there is a white line indicating the start of a parking bay, when the line is closer than 1m to a driveway. On the one hand I don't want to be a d**K to whoever is using the driveway, but on the other I don't want to be that guy not parking up to the line so others have room to safely park behind me?

Hi there,
The measurement of the driveway is actually taken from the parallel lines extending out to the road and not the wider part near the end. So you might find that the start of the park could be 1 meter from the actual drive measurement. They call it the prolongation of the driveway.
