I’ve just had the car serviced with the agent, it was a big service, and expensive, which included getting the cam belt replaced and a full fluid change. The vehicle was returned to me and it had been used for the last couple of weeks before I realised that they had not refilled the transmission with transmission fluid. There had been some slipping of the gears when cold.

On going back to the agent they have filled the transmission with transmission fluid and took it for a five minute test drive and said everything seemed fine. After ringing them twice I now have an email where they admit liability but only for a 12 month period and only if they consider the damage to be caused by low oil level.

Is this reasonable in this situation?

They have verbally guaranteed that everything else I paid for was done but I am left feeling unconfident that everything else has been sufficiently checked and replaced.

Are there any other options available to me? I am concerned with how things have been left, especially given the amount of money I paid and the whole reason for the service being to give us peace of mind and getting the best out of the car.

thanks for advice

In our opinion, the dealer is being very fair. If the transmission was only flaring when cold and it is operating correctly now that the level has been corrected, it is unlikely that any damage would have been caused. For the dealer to offer you a 12 month warranty on the transmission if a defect occurs as a result of the low fluid level, this seems like a fair undertaking. If damage had occured, we'd expect the transmission to fail at the time, or within a very short timeframe - not a year.
While we can understand that your confidence in the dealer has been diminished due to this incident, it really sounds like the offer they are extending to you demonstrates that they value you as a customer and have taken the low fluid level matter seriously.
If you are still doubting the other work has been performed correctly, perhaps you could suggest to them that they get the car back in for a couple of hours to re-check the work, giving both you and them a level of comfort that everything else has been properly attended to.
