I am the HR Manager at a hotel in NZ and a member of the staff has come to me with a request to help him obtain a permit allowing him to ride his moped after 10pm.

He is currently on a learners licence and has apparently being told by the police this exemption is possible.

Can you explain what this is and how I go about doing this?

Ask your staff member to pick up an Application for an Exemption form at their local New Zealand Transport Agency agent such as an AA centre.

The form is coded DL4.

If you read the 'Important Information' on the front page you will be in a better position to decide whether you can help or not.

There are strict conditions which must be met and there is a high chance the request will be declined.
