Ask an expert

Jack,

I have a question regarding adjusted suspension. I have already received the LV Certification plate which certifies the suspension in my vehicle, and now I have gone to a Vehicle Testing Station and one of the assessors is asking for spec sheet for the suspension. Unfortunately my car came into the country with the suspension so I don't have any documents for this.

1) Why would they all of a sudden require this sheet when they have never requested this in the past?
2) What is the point in getting the low-volume cert if they are going to keep checking this?
3) What are my rights in this situation? I am confident this is simply the assessor being a bit picky.

Provided the LVV compliance plate represents the original work and there have been no further modifications and the ground clearance is within allowable limits, then the inspector should not be asking for any additional information.

I suggest you go back to the Vehicle Testing Station concerned and ask to speak to the overall manager and discuss this issue.

Jack,

I was just emailing back with regard to this query I had.

We basically went back and said that the current LVV plate says what the height of the suspension should be etc. The inspector who originally assessed our vehicle wasn’t there and the overall manager of the site didn’t know why they asked for this information.

The warrant was issued immediately on the spot!

Thanks for your help on this one!
