Citroen C4 2015 car review

Five years on and 450,000 vehicles later, the Citroen C4 is still going strong. 2015 has seen the release of the C4 second-generation and it’s another fine example of French engineering. The new C4 features a new engine, 6-speed auto transmission, lights and added technology features.

The C4 sets the standard for comfort in its segment and cements its status as a compact yet spacious hatchback. It benefits from Keyless entry, Sat Nav, push button start, 7” touch screen, and stop/start (S&S) technology.

Good things come in threes

The C4 is fitted with the latest-generation, 3-cylinder PureTech engine which meets Euro 6 emission standards. Designed for power and efficiency, output has increased 8kW over the first gen C4, with the power coming in 500 rpm earlier - all thanks to the turbo. The six speed automatic transmission, which debuted in the 2014 Picasso, has also found its way into the C4 while an extra two gears - combined with enhanced shift strategy and weight saving - make this hatchback a more pleasurable driving experience.

Look mum, no keys!

Inside we have a new 7” touchscreen which now groups all the vehicle functions into one intuitive system. The Dual-zone digital air conditioning, Sat Nav, media, Bluetooth and vehicle functions are all easily accessed and adjusted. A new key fob is added to allow for the always handy keyless entry and start function, which is quickly becoming a standard feature on vehicles today. Boot volume is the largest in its category, thanks to the vehicles cubic shape, its low and narrow loading threshold and its interior fittings.

Costs

Priced at $36,990 including GST, Citroen presents a vehicle loaded with standard features and a few upgrade options - a Cielo panoramic glass roof for an extra $1500 as one example. More good news is the fuel economy which boasts a super-low combined consumption of 4.9l/100kms; you won’t need to be worrying where the next petrol station is located.
