Account Help

Find answers to common questions about signing up, logging in, and managing your AA online account.

What is an AA online account?

Your AA online account is a single set of login credentials — one email address and password — that gives you access to all AA digital services, including the AA website, MyAA portal, AA mobile app, Road Code Practice Test, and Driving School. You only need one account, regardless of which AA products you use.

How do I create an AA online account?

  1. Go to my.aa.co.nz/signup

  2. Enter your email address and click Continue

  3. Create a password. Your password must be at least 8 characters long and include at least 3 of the following:

    a. Lowercase letters (a-z)

    b. Uppercase letters (A-Z

    c. Numbers (0-9

    d. Special characters (e.g. !@#$%^&*)

  4. Click Continue

  5. Check your inbox for an email titled "AA online account activation" and click Verify your email.

  6. If you're an AA Member, follow the prompts to connect your Membership number. If not, you can skip this step.

Your account works across all AA digital services - the AA website, MyAA portal, AA mobile app, Road Code Practice Test, and Driving School. You won't need a separate login for any of them.

How do I create an account in the AA app?

Once you’ve downloaded the AA app in either the Apple App Store or Google Play Store

  1. Click ‘Create an account
  2. A pop up with nzaa wants to use ‘aa.co.nz' to sign in will appear – click Continue. This links you to our online version of the app
  3. Enter your email address and push Continue
  4. You will then be prompted to create a password and push Continue.
  5. If your email is available, success! Continue the journey by verifying your email
  6. If not, you’ll get a message saying there is already an account linked to that email and you can reset your password: select Log in – enter your email address again – click 'Reset password' if you don’t remember your password.
  7. If you used our old AA Roadservice or AA Rode Code Quiz apps, you'll need to create a brand new account on the new AA app using the above instructions. If you attempt to log in, without creating this new account the app won't recognise you.

I haven't received my verification email. What should I do?

  1. Check your spam or junk folder - it may have been filtered there

  2. If the email isn't there, the verification link may have expired (links are valid for 30 minutes only)

  3. Go back to my.aa.co.nz, enter your email address and password, and we'll send you a new verification link

I'm getting an "account already in use" message. What does that mean?

This means you've already started registering with that email address but haven't verified it yet. To fix this:

  1. Go to my.aa.co.nz

  2. Enter your email address and password

  3. We'll resend your verification email - check your inbox and click the link to verify

My Membership details aren't matching when I sign up. What should I check?

There are a few common reasons this happens:

  • Make sure your date of birth is entered in DD/MM/YYYY format

  • Enter your name exactly as it appears on your Membership - including any hyphens or apostrophes. Type it manually rather than copying and pasting, as formatting can sometimes be lost

  • If your Membership has expired, you'll need to renew it before you can complete registration

If none of the above helps, you may have duplicate Membership records with us. Call us on 0800 500 444 (Monday to Friday, 8am-6pm) and we'll sort it out for you

Why can't my partner and I use the same email address?

For security reasons, each account requires a unique email address. If you both want your own account, you'll need to use a separate email address.

How do I log in to my account?

On the website or MyAA portal: go to my.aa.co.nz, enter your email address and password, and click Login.

On the AA app: open the app, enter the same email address and password on the login screen, and tap Login. Your credentials are the same. There's no separate account for the app.

I'm trying to log in via the AA app but it's not accepting my password.

Make sure you're using the email address and password you registered with at my.aa.co.nz. The app uses the same credentials. If it worked on the website previously, it should work on the app.

If you're not sure which email you used, tap Forgot email? on the login screen. If you need to reset your password, tap Forgot password.

Can I use my old username and password?

No. All AA digital services now require an email address and password. To set up access, go to my.aa.co.nz/signup and register with your email address. You'll be able to connect your membership number during sign-up if you're an AA Member. Once created, your credentials work across all AA digital services.
